Association Urges Immediate Action on Long-Standing Issues
Mandi: A delegation from the Himachal Pradesh Government Teachers’ Association, led by State General Secretary Tilak Nayak, met Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri during a state-level Cooperative Societies program in Mandi. The meeting, facilitated by Shri Keshav Nayak, Director of Himachal Pradesh Cooperative Bank, highlighted several key demands and grievances of the teaching community.
The association urged the government to regularize teachers who have completed two years of contractual service and address the issue of principals awaiting regularization since 2016. Additionally, they pressed for resolving long-pending promotions across various cadres, including Junior Basic Teachers (JBT), C&V, Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), lecturers, headmasters, and principals. The delegation emphasized that many teachers are retiring without ever receiving promotion benefits.
The association also raised concerns about being denied an annual routine meeting with the Directors of the Education Department for the past two years. Despite repeated requests, no time has been allotted for discussions, leaving several pressing issues unresolved.
Tilak Nayak, General Secretary of the association, called for immediate intervention from the state government to address these longstanding issues.
