The Municipal Council elections in Nurpur concluded smoothly with an impressive voter turnout of 72.57 percent across all nine wards. According to official figures, 73.08 percent of male voters and 72.04 percent of female voters exercised their franchise, reflecting strong civic participation despite the summer heat and blazing sun.
The polling day witnessed remarkable enthusiasm among both elderly and young voters. Several centenarians also marked their presence at the polling booths. In Ward No. 02, 101-year-old Prem Sahotra arrived with his family to cast his vote, sharing emotional memories of past elections. Similarly, in Ward No. 05, 93-year-old Lalita Devi participated in the democratic process accompanied by her grandson, Sudhanshu Sharma.
Local administration, election officials, and police personnel played a crucial role in ensuring peaceful polling. Superintendent of Police Kulbhushan Verma personally visited polling stations to review security arrangements and instructed officials to maintain strict vigilance throughout the day.
