In a major crackdown against narcotics, the CIA team of Police District Nurpur seized 515 grams of charas and took one person into custody during a patrol on National Highway-154 near Palin (Jonta). The vehicle used in the crime was also confiscated.
Details of the Operation: On April 22, 2026, the CIA team was conducting routine patrols in Jasur, 24 Mile, and Jonta areas for crime prevention and checking. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a white Swift car (registration number HP38J2050) near Jonta. Independent witnesses were present during the search.
Upon inspection, 515 grams of charas was recovered from the car’s rear quarter panel, leading to the immediate detention of the accused.

- Name: Ravindra Sharma (Age approx. 62 years)
- Resident: Village Mukhtiyal, Post Office Baletha, Tehsil Nurpur, District Kangra
Legal Action: The seized narcotics and vehicle were taken into custody, and a case has been registered under Section 20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Nurpur. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
The Nurpur Police reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying the campaign against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to share any information related to narcotics activities.
