The Noorpur district police have intensified their ongoing campaign against illegal mining, carrying out major operations that resulted in the seizure of six vehicles, including JCB machines, tippers and a tractor.
On the night of January 12, 2026, a team from Dhagoonpir Police Post (under Damtal Police Station) conducted patrols at Majra Chakki Khad and intercepted mining activity. During the raid, police seized one JCB and one tipper. A case was registered at Damtal Police Station under Sections 303(2), 3(5) of BNS and Section 21(1) of the Mines and Minerals Act. The accused were identified as Suresh Kumar, son of Nand Lal, resident of village Phulra Kuliya, District Pathankot, and Sukhdev, son of Prakash Chand, resident of Ward No. 5, Mohatli, Tehsil Indora, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Legal proceedings are underway against them.
In addition, one tractor was seized and challaned under the Mining Act.
On January 13, 2026, during daytime patrols in the Mand area under Indora Police Station, police further seized one JCB and two tippers engaged in illegal mining.
In total, six vehicles have been seized and challaned under the Mining Act, with cases forwarded to the court for further action.
The Noorpur police have reaffirmed that their anti-illegal mining drive will continue in the future to curb such activities.
