Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur sharpened his attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over the handling of bureaucratic issues, directly citing the Chief Minister’s replies as “shameful, childish, and laughable.”
Addressing the media after the Assembly session, Thakur said that the language and tone adopted by the Chief Minister while responding to questions on bureaucratic infighting were deeply concerning. “When journalists raised serious concerns about the situation within the bureaucracy, the Chief Minister’s answers were ‘shameful, childish, and laughable’—these are not my words alone, but a reflection of how inadequate those responses appeared,” he said.
Thakur maintained that at a time when clarity and firmness are expected from the top leadership, such replies fail to address the gravity of the situation. “The issue is not just about differences among officers, but about how the leadership responds to it. The responses given did not match the seriousness of the matter,” he added.
He further observed that effective governance demands clear direction and accountability. “When questions arise regarding administrative functioning, the expectation is a confident and structured response. That reassurance was missing,” Thakur said.
The remarks underline the opposition’s growing focus on governance and administrative coordination, with the tone of the debate intensifying around leadership and accountability in the state.
