Major Success for Nurpur Police: Punjab Smuggler Caught with 2.532 kg Charas

In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, the CIA team of Nurpur Police apprehended a smuggler near Nagabari Toll Plaza with 2.532 kilograms of charas (cannabis). The suspect was riding a Hero Splendor motorcycle (registration number PB 35 H 9592), which has also been seized.

During routine patrol and checking, police stopped the motorcycle and recovered the narcotics from the rider’s possession. The accused has been identified as:

  • Ashwani Kumar (33), son of Jaswant Rai, resident of Ravidas Mohalla, Narot Mehra, Tehsil & District Pathankot, Punjab.

The accused was taken into custody on the spot. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, confirmed the arrest and stated that strict action against drug traffickers will continue.
