In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Gaggal Police arrested a 27‑year‑old youth from Punjab late Saturday night.
Around 1:40 AM on July 5, 2026, police intercepted the suspect near Sarah Manjhi Bridge, Gaggal. During questioning, the accused attempted to discard a suspicious packet from his trouser pocket. On checking in the presence of witnesses, police recovered 6.74 grams of heroin (chitta).
The arrested individual has been identified as Balwinder Singh, son of Naresh Singh, resident of Durang Khad Tarahari, District Pathankot, Punjab. A case has been registered at Gaggal Police Station under FIR No. 65/26, dated 05/07/2026, U/S 21‑61‑85 NDPS Act.
Further investigation is being carried out by ASI Mohinder Singh of Gaggal Police Station. Station House Officer Udhham Singh Rajput stated that the campaign against drug traffickers will continue with strict action.
