Mandi: Former Minister and BJP MLA Anil Sharma has criticized Congress leader Kaul Singh Thakur, stating that he wouldn’t have lost elections to his own ‘Chelas’ if he had conducted politics with integrity. Sharma made these remarks during a press conference in Mandi on Sunday.
Kaul Singh Thakur has faced electoral defeat twice, both times against Jawahar Thakur and Pooran Chand Thakur, who were once his followers and supporters. “Kaul Singh Thakur needs to learn to speak the truth,” Sharma said.
Sharma also accused Congress leaders of distributing cash among the public to gain popularity. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation and has called for an investigation into the allocation of relief funds,” added Sharma.
Talking about his family’s political legacy, Sharma emphasized that his family has never faced defeat in assembly elections, unlike Thakur, who has lost three times. “It’s time for Thakur to retire from politics,” he said.
He also defended his decision to switch from Congress to the BJP, citing his father, the late Pandit Sukhram’s, disillusionment with the Congress. “If not for my father’s comments on the end of his era, we would still be with Congress,” Sharma explained, adding that his switch to the BJP led to electoral victory.
Targeting Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, Sharma criticized Singh and his mother, current MP Pratibha Singh, for their silence on the stalled Shivdham project in Mandi.
“Despite holding significant positions, they couldn’t address the halt in the Shivdham project. If the central government is neglecting the state, the Congress party should seek justice through the courts,” he added.
