Dharamshala: The Newz Radar (TNR) honoured IAS officer Zaffar Iqbal during the closing ceremony of the Dharamshala Spring Carnival-2025 on Thursday (February 13, 2025) at Dari Mela Ground near here, for his unwavering commitment to achieving administrative goals.
Recognised for his belief that success comes not only through hard work but through strategic execution, Iqbal has established himself as a dynamic leader in Himachal Pradesh’s governance.
Hailing from Poonch in Jammu & Kashmir and having studied in a government school, Iqbal’s journey to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is one of resilience and determination. His career has been marked by numerous key postings, showcasing his expertise in urban development and governance.
Iqbal, a 2017-batch IAS officer, has served in various capacities, including Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) in Sarkaghat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) in Solan and Commissioner of the Solan Municipal Corporation.
Currently, he holds the dual charge of Municipal Commissioner of Dharamshala Municipal Corporation and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Waqf Board. Additionally, he heads the Smart City projects in Dharamshala, ensuring efficient infrastructure development and addressing public grievances.
His tenure has been defined by his commitment to public service. One of his priorities has been addressing lapses in the Smart City project, particularly resolving issues such as open ducts and incomplete urban infrastructure. The people of Dharamshala have appreciated his proactive approach in handling these concerns.
Speaking about Iqbal’s commendable service TNR’s HR head Abhinav Sharma remarked, “We have seen Zaffar Iqbal maintaining a perfect work-life balance. He is also known for his strong communication skills. TNR is proud to honour such officers as these personalities form the steel frame of the system.”
