The closing ceremony of the Hindi Fortnight was held at Government Arya College, Nurpur under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Anil Kumar Thakur. The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before Goddess Saraswati and a Saraswati Vandana.
Renowned scholar and recipient of the Himachal Gaurav Samman, Dr. Om Prakash Sharma, delivered a lecture on “Hindi and Pahari Dialects: A Discourse.” He guided students on the origin and development of Hindi and highlighted the scientific nature of the Devanagari script, calling it one of the most advanced writing systems in the world.
The event featured vibrant cultural performances, including a dance presentation by students and an anti‑ragging street play staged in the college premises.
Principal’s Address
Dr. Thakur congratulated the students, encouraging them to use such platforms to build their personalities. He emphasized that success comes only through hard work and that every small beginning can lead to great achievements.
Assistant Professor Reema also addressed the gathering, praising the Hindi Department for organizing such unique cultural programs. She noted that events dedicated to language and culture are rare and invaluable.
Participation & Recognition
- Around 70–80 students took part in the program, presenting colorful performances.
- Winners of competitions such as poetry recitation, speech, and essay writing were honored with mementos.
- Hindi Department faculty member Dr. Anil Kumar extended congratulations and heartfelt gratitude to all participants.
The ceremony was attended by faculty members including Dr. Rohit Kumar and Assistant Professor Madhubala, along with other staff members.
