The weather in Himachal Pradesh’s higher reaches has taken a turn with intermittent snowfall reported in Rohtang and the high-altitude areas of Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti.
The change is attributed to the activation of a western disturbance, bringing much-anticipated relief after a prolonged dry spell in the region.
Cloudy skies have blanketed Kullu district since morning, accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperatures. Snowflakes have begun to settle on Rohtang and other high peaks, much to the delight of tourism operators who had been eagerly waiting for this.
But the wait continues for farmers and orchardists as no rain was experienced in habitable regions, which have been grappling with a dry spell for the past three months.
Rain, snow forecast for four days
The Shimla Meteorological Centre has predicted rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra, Mandi and Kinnaur districts from November 30 until December 3. Clear weather is expected across all districts starting December 4. Other districts are likely to experience sunny skies for the next week. In Mandi, light fog was observed on Saturday morning.
