DHARAMSHALA:
Shrey Awasthi, the state coordinator of the Himachal Pradesh Unemployed Youth Federation, has strongly opposed the Himachal Pradesh government’s newly introduced policy of “Regularisation after two years through a competency test” and demanded its reversal.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Shrey Awasthi termed the move as a betrayal of the trust of the youth of Himachal Pradesh.

Awasthi pointed out that recruitment in government sectors had already been painfully slow in the state. Over the past three years, youth have repeatedly faced disappointment, either due to the delay in the formation of recruitment commissions or the failure to finalise contracts with private testing agencies. Now, the condition of a second competency test after two years of appointment has further shattered the morale of aspiring youth.

He questioned whether will this policy apply across all categories of government jobs or is it targeted selectively at Class III employees?”

Awasthi demanded an immediate rollback of the decision. He also issued a stern warning to the government: “If this anti-youth policy is not withdrawn promptly, the youth of the state will be forced to take to the streets in protest.”
