MANDI: In a commendable initiative, the girl students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Pandoh in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district are currently undergoing self-defence training being imparted by skilled instructors from the Himachal police’s Third Battalion at Pandoh.
Constables Anita and Praveena and helping the students learn invaluable techniques to enhance their personal safety.
The initiative, spearheaded by Principal SD Sharma, underscores the importance of empowering students with essential life skills. Recognising the need for such training, Sharma reached out to Commandant Bhagat Singh Thakur of the Third Battalion, who promptly dispatched expert trainers to facilitate the sessions.
Thakur emphasised that initiatives like these are integral to the community police scheme, which aims to foster a sense of security and cooperation within local communities. He lauded the dedication of the women police personnel for delivering exceptional training and thanked the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya management for their partnership in this endeavour.
The impact of the training is evident in the heightened morale of the students, who express confidence in the effectiveness of the skills imparted. Nivedita and Devsoni, among the students benefiting from the programme, commend both the school administration and the dedicated trainers for their invaluable efforts in promoting self-defence awareness.
This collaborative effort not only equips students with essential self-defence skills but also exemplifies the positive outcomes that arise from community engagement and partnership between educational institutions and law enforcement agencies, said students.
