The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to freeze the creation of new posts, opening of new institutes and institutional upgrades until the next state budget.
The decision, taken by the Finance Department, applies to the last quarter of the current financial year, spanning January to March 2024. Any exceptions will require special approval from Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Departments have been instructed to submit detailed proposals for the next budget if new institutes, upgrades, or post creations are needed. Priority will be given to initiatives that can be implemented within the current financial year under pre-allocated budgets.
The directive aligns with the state’s focus on effective financial management and implementation of ongoing projects.
To finalise the upcoming budget, a meeting to determine legislators’ priorities is expected in the second week of January. Additionally, Chief Minister Sukhu may visit Kangra in the first week of the month.
