Kangra district administration has accelerated the displacement process under the Gaggal Airport expansion project. On Friday, officials issued house evacuation orders in Mohal Rachiyalu for families who have already received compensation of ₹37 lakh each under the land, trees, houses, and Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) package. Notices were formally served in the village, directing immediate vacation of homes.
Key Meeting at Panchayat Ghar A crucial meeting was held at the Rachiyalu Panchayat Ghar, attended by SDM Kangra, SDM Shahpur, DTDO Vinay Dhiman from the rehabilitation department, members of the R&R team, officials from the Special Land Acquisition Department, and Panchayat representatives. Officials clarified that the government had already carried out compulsory land acquisition in October 2024, and families who have received full payment must vacate their houses without delay.
Project Coordinator’s Statement Project Coordinator Ranjit Thakur informed that the R&R process is now in its final stage. “Once the compensated families vacate their homes, the site will be handed over to the construction agency. Work on the 3,010-meter runway will then gain momentum, with the aim of completing the project within the scheduled timeframe,” he said.
Administrative Directions Authorities instructed families to comply with the evacuation orders promptly to ensure smooth progress of the expansion project. The administration also announced that similar proceedings will be carried out tomorrow in Mohal Kyodia, where notices will be served to the concerned families.
