A review meeting to ensure the successful, safe, and well‑organized conduct of Shri Manimahesh Yatra 2026 was held at the National Science Centre, Chamba, under the chairmanship of Kangra Division Commissioner Sandeep Kumar.
During the meeting, preparations by various departments were thoroughly reviewed and necessary directions were issued. The Commissioner emphasized that Shri Manimahesh Yatra is one of Himachal Pradesh’s most significant religious pilgrimages, attracting thousands of devotees from across India and abroad. He directed all departments to complete required arrangements within the stipulated timeframe to guarantee a safe, smooth, and convenient journey for pilgrims.
Key highlights from the meeting included:
- Mandatory Registration: All pilgrims will be required to register for the Yatra this year. Details regarding registration fees will be announced separately.
- Accommodation & Facilities: Adequate lodging arrangements at the historic Chaugan ground were instructed, along with provision of temporary toilets, bathing facilities, lighting, electricity, rest areas, and clean drinking water.
- Security & Crowd Management: Police administration was tasked with strengthening traffic control, parking management, crowd regulation, and overall security. Pilgrims will only be allowed on the Parikrama path with authorized and trained guides.
- Health Services: The Chief Medical Officer was directed to ensure medical teams, ambulances, medicines, first‑aid centers, and emergency services are fully prepared along the route.
- Infrastructure & Safety: The Public Works and Forest Departments were asked to repair roads, rebuild damaged culverts, monitor landslide‑prone areas, and secure pedestrian paths.
- Cleanliness & Environment: Departments were instructed to implement effective waste management and environmental protection measures.
Deputy Commissioner Chamba, Mukesh Repaswal, shared insights from last year’s Yatra and outlined preparations for this year, assuring coordinated efforts with all departments. The proceedings were conducted by Additional District Magistrate Bharmour, Vikas Sharma, who presented the current status and upcoming action plan.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP Dinesh Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Manmohan Singh, Divisional Forest Officer Navnath Mane, DSP Baldev Dutt, Chief Medical Officer Jalam Bhardwaj, District Development Officer Tavinder Chinouria, District Revenue Officer Vikramjit Singh, Executive Engineers Jogendra Sharma and B.C. Thakur, along with other officials.
