Dalhousie Public School, one of India’s most prestigious boarding institutions nestled in the scenic hills of Himachal Pradesh, is set to celebrate its 55th Founders’ Day on Saturday, October 18, 2025, with great enthusiasm and pride.

The Chief Guest for the occasion will be Lieutenant General Rakesh Kapoor, AVSM, VSM, Deputy Chief of the Army Staff, who will grace the celebrations at the school campus. In his honor, a formal dinner will be hosted at the Dalhousie Club, attended by dignitaries from Dalhousie and across the country.

The event will witness participation from students and families not only from Himachal Pradesh but also from various states across India, as parents of boarding students arrive to join the festivities. While tourist footfall in Dalhousie has been low in recent weeks, the Founders’ Day celebrations are expected to bring vibrancy and activity to the town.

Dalhousie Public School was founded in 1970 by the late Smt. Charanjit Kaur, who served as its founding chairperson. Her legacy of dedication, discipline, and integrity continues through her son, Dr. Captain G.S. Dhillon, the current Chairman, who has elevated the school to national prominence through his tireless efforts and commitment to excellence in education.

Now, the third generation of leadership has taken root, with Dhillon’s son, Zorawar Dhillon, serving as the school’s Director.

A unique feature of the school is its Defense Park—BG Park—named in honor of Charanjit Kaur and dedicated to the mothers of India. The park showcases military exhibits including submarines, aircraft, and other defense-related installations, making it a popular attraction for tourists visiting Dalhousie.

Dalhousie Public School is deeply involved in the town’s social and cultural life, with Dr. Captain G.S. Dhillon widely regarded as a pillar of the community. His contributions have earned him the affectionate title of “Dalhousie’s pride and honor.”

The school’s reputation has grown so significantly that it has expanded to Chandigarh, where Dalhousie Public School Chandigarh now offers high-quality education in a modern urban setting.
