Cold Weather: Possibility of Light Rain, Snow from January 8

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh is experiencing a surge in cold weather as chilly winds and fog have engulfed various regions. Several places in the state have witnessed a near-zero drop in temperatures.

In Mandi, Sundernagar, and Rikangpio, the mercury has reached close to freezing degrees, while Kalpa recorded temperatures dropping below minus 1.8 degrees Celsius.

Furthermore, the weather department predicts adverse conditions in the state from January 8. Light rain and snowfall are expected in some areas from January 8 to 10.

The prevailing cold winds have led to a decrease in temperatures at many locations.

Maximum temperatures have notably reduced in Shimla, Bhuntar, Kalpa, Dharamshala, Kullu, Dalhousie, and Narkanda.

Shimla, the “Queen of Hills,” experienced a drop of 1.4 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature reaching 13.0 degrees Celsius. In Dharamshala, temperatures decreased by 1.8 degrees, settling at 19.2 degrees Celsius. Dalhousie recorded a dip to 2.4 degrees, resulting in a temperature of 9.7 degrees Celsius. Narkanda, with a 2.2-degree drop, reached 8.6 degrees Celsius. Bhuntar recorded a maximum temperature of 21.0 degrees Celsius, while Kalpa recorded 10.3 degrees Celsius.

Minimum temperatures have also seen a decline in several places. Sundernagar and Mandi recorded temperatures near zero.

Sundernagar reported a minimum temperature of 0.9 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar at 0.9 degrees Celsius, and Mandi at 0.5 degrees Celsius. Rikangpio witnessed a temperature of 0.2 degrees Celsius, Kalpa recorded minus 1.8 degrees Celsius, and Samdho reported minus 6.1 degrees Celsius. Shimla marked a minimum temperature of 4.0 degrees Celsius.

Dharamshala reported 6.2 degrees Celsius, Una 1.5 degrees Celsius, and Dalhousie recorded 4.1 degrees Celsius.

The state is bracing for a cold spell, and residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay warm during this period.
