A major accident was averted on Thursday (January 30, 2025) on the Chamba-Himgiri road in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh when one of the rear tyres of a private bus hung out of the narrow road.
According to reports, the incident occurred on the Himgiri stretch of Churah in Chamba district. The private bus was en route to Himgiri when both its rear tyres suddenly skidded off the road, causing the vehicle to stop precariously close to a roadside drain.
Had the bus moved even slightly forward, a serious accident could have taken place, said a passenger.
Local residents said the road conditions in the area had deteriorated significantly, increasing the risk of such mishaps. Passengers expressed relief over their safety but also urged the authorities to take immediate action to repair the damaged road and prevent future incidents.
