Former Industries Minister and BJP MLA from Jaswan-Paragpur, Bikram Singh Thakur, launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the Congress government, alleging that they are using the name of Lord Ram to divert public attention from their failures.
Thakur said the Congress government has failed to deliver on its ten election guarantees, while the state’s economic condition continues to deteriorate with rising debt and administrative lapses. “If the Chief Minister is truly accountable to the people, he should issue a White Paper on Himachal’s financial situation instead of indulging in rhetoric over the Ram Mandir,” he stated.
Key Allegations by Bikram Singh Thakur
- Congress has no moral right to question Lord Ram or the Ram Mandir, given its past opposition to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and judicial hurdles.
- The party’s history is filled with major scams including 2G Spectrum, Coal Allocation, Commonwealth Games, Bofors, AgustaWestland, Adarsh Housing, National Herald, Aircel-Maxis, Tatra Trucks, and others.
- The Sukhu government is failing on promises: ₹1500 monthly allowance for women, jobs for youth, relief for farmers and orchardists, and solutions for employees and pensioners remain unfulfilled.
- Congress is allegedly using religious sentiments for political gain whenever cornered on governance and economic mismanagement.
Thakur’s Statement
“Lord Ram is the symbol of faith and cultural consciousness for crores of Indians. The Ram Mandir is the center of national devotion. Congress must stop dragging Lord Ram and the temple into political controversies for its benefit. The people of Himachal clearly understand this diversionary politics. The BJP will continue to stand firmly for public interest, good governance, and truth,” Thakur asserted.
He reiterated his demand that CM Sukhu immediately release a White Paper on the state’s economy and give a clear account of the ten guarantees made to the people.
