Rohit Thakur appreciates Uttar Pradesh CM’s education model
Shimla: After PWD minister Vikramaditya Singh sought to replicate Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath’s policy of vendors putting up nameplates outside shops, another Congress minister from Himachal Pradesh has looked up to the firebrand Hindu leader for inspiration.
Himachal Education Minister Rohit Thakur has announced plans to adopt the education model of Uttar Pradesh to improve the quality of education in the state. This decision follows Thakur’s recent visit to UP, where he explored the educational reforms undertaken by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government.
During his tour of Uttar Pradesh, Thakur met with CM Yogi Adityanath to discuss the qualitative advancements in UP’s education system. Upon his return to Shimla, Thakur expressed his admiration for the work being done in India’s largest state and confirmed that both states had agreed to exchange educational strategies for mutual benefit.
“Uttar Pradesh has made significant progress in the field of education. My visit to UP was aimed at understanding these improvements and replicating them in Himachal Pradesh,” said Thakur. He further revealed that discussions had taken place between the two states to formalise an exchange of best practices and a detailed meeting with the Himachal Education Department would follow soon to outline future steps.
Thakur’s remarks follow a similar trend within the Himachal Pradesh government, where earlier Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh had announced the adoption of UP’s policy requiring vendors to display their names and religion. Vikramaditya had faced criticism from Congress leaders and the party high command on the issue.
