Shocking: Ayush dispensary, operating in a rented building for 26 years

The Newz Radar

Chamba: The Ayurvedic dispensary has been running in a rented building for 26 years. Despite being the property of the department, construction work could not start for six years due to the lack of budget.

The Gram Panchayat Hamirpur, falling within the jurisdiction of the Churah assembly, opened the Ayurvedic dispensary in 1998 to provide people with Ayurvedic medical facilities. The Ayush department opened this dispensary in a rented house. It was hoped that soon this dispensary would have its own building and people would receive better Ayurvedic medical facilities.

The absence of land belonging to the Ayush department was a hindrance to this work for many years. Due to the efforts of the local people, the department was successful in transferring 5 biswa of government land to the name of the Ayush department about 6 years ago.

People hoped that now the government would soon take effective steps towards building this dispensary, but so far, people’s hopes have remained unfulfilled.

It is certain that for this Ayush dispensary, the department has only 5 lakh rupees as token money, while 75 lakh rupees will be spent on it.

According to the Public Works Department, until the Ayush department deposits 50 percent of the total budget with the department, the process of starting the construction work cannot be initiated.

This is the reason why this dispensary is still operating in a rented building.

What does the district Ayush officer say?

District Ayush Officer Chamba Kiran Sharma says that so far only token money is available for this dispensary. Information about this matter has been sent to the government, and it is hoped that the government will soon release the budget for this work and construction work on this dispensary will start.
