Himachal’s Ayurvedic Medical Officers achieve national recognition with record Prakriti Assessments

MANDI: Himachal Pradesh’s Ayurvedic Medical Officers (AMOs) have brought national acclaim to the state by achieving a historic milestone in the “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan” (The Nation’s Prakriti Assessment) campaign.

Surpassing the initial target of 5 lakh assessments, the officers conducted over 7.2 lakh Prakriti (body constitution) tests, securing a letter of appreciation and a trophy at the national level.

The award was presented to Dr Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director of the Shimla Zone, during a national ceremony held in Mumbai.

The achievement highlights the dedication of Himachal Pradesh’s Ayurvedic Medical Officers, who managed this large-scale campaign alongside their regular healthcare duties.

Their efforts have not only elevated the profile of Ayurveda within the state but also emphasised its scientific relevance and effectiveness at the national level.

Ayurveda’s timeless approach gains modern relevance

Prakriti Assessment, a core diagnostic tool in Ayurveda, identifies an individual’s body constitution (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) to tailor diet, lifestyle and treatment plans accordingly.

This personalised approach has proven to be a powerful preventive tool against modern lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, heart disorders and stress.

The extensive scale of the campaign further validated Ayurveda’s ability to complement modern medical practices, offering holistic solutions for today’s health challenges.

Medical Officers acknowledge govt effort

Commending this landmark achievement, Dr. Sanjay Guleria, President of the Himachal Ayurveda Medical Officers Association, extended heartfelt gratitude to AYUSH Minister Shri Yadvendra Goma, AYUSH Secretary Rakhi Kahlon and AYUSH Director Dr Nipun Jindal.

He credited their guidance and unwavering support as key factors in the campaign’s success, which ultimately secured national recognition for Himachal Pradesh.

The success of the Prakriti Assessment campaign has demonstrated that aligning one’s diet and lifestyle with their natural body constitution can lead to a decrease in disease burden, reduced medical expenses, and a shift towards healthier living.

The initiative has re-established Ayurveda’s scientific foundations while solidifying its relevance in modern healthcare.
