Palampur — In a meaningful stride toward environmental conservation, the Eco Club of Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra Government College, Palampur, installed bird nests across the college campus under the coordination of Dr. Meenakshi Thakur. The initiative, carried out on 15 October, aims to promote biodiversity and encourage harmonious coexistence with nature.
Officiating Principal Professor Kalpana Rishi lauded the efforts of the Eco Club, urging students to reflect on the ecological impact of human activity. “Our greed for land and resources is destroying the homes of birds. Every tree we cut down takes away their shelter. Let us pledge to protect their habitats and live in harmony with nature,” she said, inspiring a collective commitment to environmental stewardship.
Dr. Meenakshi Thakur emphasized that the nest installation is part of the club’s ongoing mission to foster a greener and more sustainable campus. She highlighted the ecological significance of bird life and the need to safeguard their habitats to maintain balance in the natural world.
The event concluded with a pledge by the Principal, Dr. Thakur, Eco Club members, and Botany Laboratory Assistant Mr. Ashish Kumar to regularly monitor and maintain the nests, ensuring their long-term success in enhancing campus biodiversity.
