Income Tax (Exemptions) Department Holds Outreach Programme in Dharamshala

The Office of the Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), Chandigarh, organised an Outreach Programme in Dharamshala on April 13, 2026, to raise awareness about exemption provisions under the Income Tax Act, 2025, and to address practical challenges faced by institutions governed by these provisions.

The programme was presided over by Sh. Debjyoti Das, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), Delhi, who emphasized the importance of compliance for registered non-profit organizations (NPOs) to continue availing exemption benefits. He highlighted the role of such initiatives in bridging the gap between the Department and the public.

Smt. Jaishree Sharma, Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), Chandigarh, elaborated on registration provisions under both the erstwhile Act and the newly introduced Income Tax Act, 2025. She stressed the need for timely compliance so that the Department can take appropriate decisions efficiently.

The programme witnessed active participation from representatives of trusts, societies, and professionals. During the interactive session, participants raised queries that were duly addressed by departmental officials.

The initiative successfully communicated recent changes in the Act to stakeholders and reiterated the Department’s commitment to strengthening governance, improving service delivery, and promoting voluntary compliance in line with government policies.
