Dharamshala: A private criminal complaint was filed on Tuesday (Apr 9) in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kangra, by Dharamshala former MLA Sudhir Sharma seeking prosecution of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for levelling allegations against the complainant.
The complaint was filed under Section 199 CrPC seeking prosecution of Sukhu under Sections 499 and 500 IPC.
The scrutiny of documents and other relevant details about the complaint will be held on April 16, 2024, by the court’s office.
The complaint refers to the interaction of the Chief Minister with media persons in Nadaun and Kutlehar towns in Una district during which he (the CM) had alleged that the complainant and five other disqualified MLAs had sold and auctioned themselves for Rs 15 crores each.
The complainant had said that the allegations, which appeared in English and Hindi newspapers, are not based on any visual or documentary proof and evidence and are per se defamatory.
The complainant said that the said allegations were unwarranted and unprecedented and were made to tarnish the image and reputation of the complainant amongst the members of the public and also to damage his electoral prospects as he is contesting the forthcoming by-elections to the Legislative Assembly from Dharamshala.
