As many as 162 state highways and three national highways are still blocked in various parts of Himachal Pradesh due to various factors, mainly snow.

The maximum 154 roads are closed in tribal Lahaul-Spiti district where several places witnessed a fresh spell of snow in March-end.

The blocked national highways are NH-505 (SKG Gramphu to Losar) and NH03 from Darcha to Sarchu in Lahaul-Spiti. Both these roads are blocked due to snow. In the tribal district, the maximum 140 roads are blocked in Spiti sub-division, followed by nine in Udaipur and five in Lahaul sub-division.

Five state highways and the Rohtang Pass NH03 are closed due to snow. Two of the state highways are in Kullu sub-division — Sharni to Pini and Shat-Jallugran road — and the rest in Banjar sub-division — Naglari-Sarchi road, Garsa to Hawai Ghat and Spangni to Kandha. In Chamba district, the Chamba-Pangi road is closed via Saach Pass. In Kinnaur district’s Kalpa sub-division, the Pangi to Thopan road is blocked.

In Kangra district’s Indora sub-division, one road is closed due to the washing away of a bride in rains, which is likely to be constructed by April-end.

Besides, 56 power transformers are out of service, the maximum 27 in Kullu district’s Thalot sub-division, followed by 25 in Lahaul-Spiti, three in Chamba (two in Bhattiyat and one in Pangi) and one in Kinnaur.
Meanwhile, the weather department has forecast rain and snow in isolated parts of the middle and high hills in Himachal on April 5. There is a likelihood of rain and snow in isolated parts of the high hills on April 6.
