Dharamshala/Shimla: According to sources, Himachal MLAs who were disqualified and later joined BJP allegedly utilized helicopters from Jaagi Pawan Hans, Global Vecta Halicorp, and B. S. R companies for a 24-day travel spree. Authorities are currently investigating the financing behind these helicopter journeys, gathering data on the MLAs’ movements.

Following the Rajya Sabha MP elections, these MLAs purportedly embarked on a 24-day journey from Panchkula, boarding helicopters owned by various companies. Subsequently, a case was registered at the Baluganj police station in Shimla, prompting the police to initiate an investigation and submit a status report to the High Court.

Although the companies involved in providing the helicopters have been identified, the source of financing remains elusive.

Nine MLAs, allegedly involved in cross-voting during the elections, were reported to have traveled from Shimla to Panchkula and Chandigarh to Dehradun via helicopters. Notable figures among them include Rajendra Rana, Indradat Lakhanpal, Ashish Sharma, Sudhir Sharma, Hoshiar Singh, Devendra Bhutto, Chaitanya Sarma, Rao Thakur, and K. l. Thakur, who were reportedly aboard helicopters on March 8, with Lalit being transferred to Pawan Hans and Global Vectra.

These MLAs purportedly journeyed from Shimla to Panchkula on February 28, returning the next day for the budget session, before traveling from Chaupar to Panchkula on the same day. The police have identified the helicopter’s owner, Venture Private Limited Company, and obtained CCTV footage from the airport.

Despite issuing notices to Pawan Hans and Global Vectra Helicopter three times regarding payments, the companies have not provided any records. The case, filed under sections 171 (E) and 171, 120 B of IPC and sections 7 and 8 of the Corruption Prevention Act, pertains to allegations of horse trading, bribery, and illicit money transactions during the Rajya Sabha elections.

Two Congress MLAs, C.P.S. Sanjay Awasthi and Bhuwnesh Gaur, have lodged a complaint against MLA Ashish Sharma and retired IAS Rakesh Sharma, father of MLA Chaitanya Sharma, at the Baluganj police station. The complainants accuse the individuals of influencing the Rajya Sabha elections and attempting to destabilize the government. The accused have applied for anticipatory bail, with their plea scheduled for a High Court hearing on April 25.
