Dharamshala, March 27: In the Kangra parliamentary constituency, 21542 soldiers will be sent postal ballot papers via e-transmission to enable them to exercise their voting rights. This information was provided by the District Election Officer, DC Hemraj Bairwa, who stated that the postal ballot papers would be sent across all 17 segments.

The District Election Officer, Hemraj Bairwa, revealed that to ensure maximum voter turnout, a voter awareness campaign has been initiated in the district, motivating everyone from persons with disabilities to youth to participate in the voting process.

He mentioned that 1642 polling stations have been established in the district, with necessary facilities being provided at these polling stations as per the Election Commission’s directions to facilitate hassle-free voting. Additionally, training for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be provided at various levels in the district.

For the convenience of voters, a toll-free helpline number 1950 has been activated, through which voters can obtain information about their voter cards, among other things. He added that new voters can be registered in the voter list up to ten days before the nomination.

To ensure free and fair voting, the Election Commission of India has launched the mobile app ‘cVIGIL,’ through which the general public can report violations of the Model Code of Conduct. It is essential to have a camera, internet connection, and a GPS-enabled smartphone for the cVIGIL app.
