Shimla: In the ongoing budget session a budget of around 58000 crore was proposed by Chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. This is the second budget of government. TNR breaks down the focus areas of government for readers.
During 2023-24:
The estimated growth rate of the state’s economy is 7.1%.
Per capita income is estimated at Rs. 2,35,199.

Prosperous Farmer Himachal:
Promotion of natural farming to make farmers self-reliant.
Minimum support price of Rs. 40 per kilogram for wheat and Rs. 30 per kilogram for maize, grown naturally by unemployed youth.
36,000 farmers to be connected to natural farming.
Development of 2,500 agriculture cluster groups under the ‘Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Mission’ to promote high-value crops in various regions.
Comprehensive plan for increasing the production of millets.
Construction of new mandis in Mehndali and Shilaru in Shimla district and Bandrol in Kullu district.

Creation of a web-based agriculture portal and mobile app, including Chat Bot and AI-based land records, helpdesk, and database for farmers’ convenience.
Establishment of a ‘Centre of Excellence Hi-Tech Vegetable Nursery Production’ to provide farmers with quality seedlings and necessary training through vegetable production.
Linking animal husbandry and milk production with natural farming by increasing the minimum support price for cow’s milk from the current Rs. 38 per liter to Rs. 47 to Rs. 55 per liter and buffalo’s milk support price per liter from Rs. 38 to Rs. 47 to Rs. 55.
Establishment of a ‘Fully Automated Milk and Milk Products Plant’ with a capacity of 1.5 LLPD (Lakh Litre Per Day) in Dhagwar under the ‘Him-Ganga’ scheme in Kangra district.
Establishment of modern milk processing plants in Una and Hamirpur districts.
200 refrigerated milk vans available at a 50% subsidy for local youth to transport milk.
Establishment of a ‘Centre of Excellence in Artificial Insemination’ in Dadlaghat in Solan district.
Launch of the ‘Sheep-Goat Farmers Incentive Scheme’ for the resolution of issues related to stray animals.
Increase in the grant for sheltered cows in private cow shelters from Rs. 700 to Rs. 1,200 per cow per month.
Establishment of a ‘Horticulture Excellence Center’ to work as a ‘One Stop Resource Centre’ for quality, skill, tourism, and market-related needs.
