The Newz Radar

In the midst of continuous sit-in protests by the local community in Dharamshala advocating for a Central University (CU), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a rally in support of the cause. Led by senior BJP leader Vipin Singh Parmar, the rally, held at Kacheri Chowk, also led to a traffic jam in the area.

During the rally, Parmar urged Congress MLAs from Kangra district to collaborate in addressing the concerns of Dharamshala’s citizens regarding the establishment of the Central University. He stressed the importance of unity and called for constructive dialogue between the Chief Minister and stakeholders involved in the CU issue.

Parmar criticized the state government’s decision to suspend MLA funds, likening it to an impediment to development. He announced the BJP’s boycott of the upcoming Shimla meeting on January 29 and January 30, protesting against the suspension of MLA funds, considering it an infringement on the autonomy of elected representatives.

Amid the rally, Member of Parliament Kishan Kapoor faced disruptions from protesters during his speech. Kapoor expressed frustration, alleging a conspiracy to silence his voice. Meanwhile, women participating in the sit-in reiterated their singular demand for the establishment of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), emphasizing its crucial role for the youth.
