The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kangra at Dharamshala is conducting the “Safe Childhood Campaign” from October 27 to October 31, 2026, as part of the nationwide school awareness initiative launched by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
The campaign aims to educate school students about their rights, personal safety, online safety, and the legal protections available under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
During the week-long campaign, DLSA Kangra, in collaboration with schools and other stakeholders, will organize a series of awareness activities across the district. These will include school assemblies, interactive sessions, educational talks, creative competitions, and other age-appropriate programmes designed to help children understand their rights and recognize safe and unsafe behaviour.
A key focus of the campaign is to encourage children to report abuse and misconduct without fear or hesitation, while also informing them about available legal aid services and various child-protection mechanisms. Through engaging and student-friendly activities, the initiative seeks to create greater awareness about the importance of personal safety and legal safeguards.
DLSA Kangra stated that the campaign reflects its commitment to fostering a safe, informed, and supportive environment for children. By strengthening awareness of legal protections and promoting prevention and timely reporting of offences against children, the authority aims to contribute towards building a safer future for young people.
The campaign forms part of a broader national effort to empower children with knowledge of their rights and ensure their protection through awareness, education, and access to legal support systems.
