Under the ongoing Kangra Airport expansion project, the Land Acquisition Officer today issued notices to affected families in Jugehar and Rachhialu villages who have already received compensation for land, houses, and rehabilitation. The notices directed them to vacate the acquired land and structures.

Meanwhile, residents of Kyodia village voiced concerns over the timing of the evacuation orders. Villagers stated that the monsoon season has made it difficult to vacate homes, as construction of their new houses is still incomplete. They also pointed out that children’s schools will continue until March, making relocation challenging.

Local residents appealed to the administration for additional time, assuring that once their new houses are ready, they will voluntarily vacate the acquired land and homes.

The appeal highlights the growing tension between the urgency of the airport expansion project and the practical difficulties faced by displaced families during the rainy season
