Continuing its preventive detention drive against narcotics traffickers, Nurpur Police has successfully arrested the third accused under the PIT‑NDPS Act. Raj Kumar alias Raju, son of late Ashok Kumar and resident of Toki village, Tehsil Indora, was taken into custody from Phillaur, Punjab.

Earlier, two accused had already been detained under the same preventive action. With Raj Kumar’s arrest today, all three targeted individuals are now in police custody.

Criminal Background: Raj Kumar has a history of involvement in drug trafficking, with two previous cases registered against him:

  1. FIR No. 111/2024 at Police Station Nurpur (6.15 grams heroin seized).
  2. FIR No. 47/2025 at Police Station Damtal (11.69 grams heroin seized).

Considering his repeated criminal activities, the Home Department of Himachal Pradesh had issued preventive detention orders under the PIT‑NDPS Act for a period of three months. Following his arrest, Raj Kumar has been handed over to Police Station Damtal for necessary legal proceedings. He will be lodged in District Jail Kangra at Dharamshala for the detention period as per government orders.
