As plains across North India reel under intense heat, Himachal Pradesh has turned into a cool refuge. In just the past 72 hours, more than 70,000 vehicles have entered Shimla and Manali, causing heavy traffic congestion on mountain roads.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain and hailstorm alert for several parts of the state, including Kullu, Mandi and Shimla, which has unexpectedly trending not for concern, but for relief.

Tourists and locals alike are sharing posts celebrating the forecast, calling it “nature’s air conditioner” after days of scorching heat.

Traffic police have urged visitors to avoid peak hours and park responsibly, as the influx continues ahead of the weekend.
