Former Congress spokesperson Punit Malli has strongly objected to the statement made by the Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, regarding “wiping out the seed” (existence) of the Congress party.
In a statement released to the media, Malli asserted that BJP leaders are resorting to such rhetoric because they see their political ground sliding away. He emphasized that in Himachal Pradesh, Congress is not just a “seed” but a robust ideology that the people accepted decades ago.
Taking a dig at the opposition, Malli remarked that leaders whose own tenure was marked by uncertainty and disorder in the state are now talking about finishing off the Congress. He suggested that the BJP needs to practice self-reflection, as the public has moved past the politics of “jumlas” (empty promises) and fear-mongering. He further added that talks of eliminating Congress are merely a symptom of political frustration.
