BJP Member of Parliament from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, on Monday accused the Opposition of “crossing all limits” and creating repeated disruptions in Parliament during the ongoing Budget Session.
Speaking to media persons outside Parliament this morning, Ranaut alleged that Opposition leaders, particularly Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, were violating parliamentary norms and undermining the dignity of the House.
Allegations of Rule Violations
Ranaut claimed that the Opposition was deliberately obstructing proceedings instead of engaging in constructive debate on key national issues, including the Union Budget.
“They are not allowing Parliament to function smoothly and are continuously creating disorder,” she said.
Controversy Over ‘Unauthorised Book’
The Mandi MP specifically referred to an incident in which Rahul Gandhi reportedly presented a book in Parliament that she described as unauthorised.
According to Ranaut, the publishing house Penguin had also termed the book illegal. She further alleged that the act amounted to an insult to the judiciary and harmed the sanctity of democratic institutions.
“Parliament’s Dignity Being Compromised”
Expressing concern over repeated disruptions, Ranaut said such actions were lowering the stature of Parliament and sending a negative message to the nation.
“The country feels embarrassed when the dignity of Parliament is repeatedly compromised,” she remarked.
Prime Minister’s Security Raised
Ranaut also flagged concerns regarding the Prime Minister’s security, stating that the Opposition’s conduct reflected irresponsibility at a time when the House must focus on serious discussions.
Opposition ‘Frustrated Over India’s Progress’: Ranaut
She further claimed that the Opposition’s behaviour stemmed from frustration over the country’s progress under the current government.
“They are troubled because India is moving forward and they are not in power,” she said.
Background
Ranaut’s remarks came amid heightened tensions in the Lok Sabha during the Budget debate, with frequent interruptions and protests witnessed in the House.
The political confrontation is expected to continue as Parliament takes up key legislative and financial discussions in the coming days.
