Legal Literacy Camp Organized in Banikhet, Chamba

A legal literacy camp was organised at Chinar Palace, Banikhet, under the aegis of the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, Dalhousie. The camp was presided over by Additional District and Sessions Judge Ramanik Sharma.

The central theme of the camp was “Drug-Free Society, India’s Resolve, Environmental Protection, Conservation of Natural Resources, and Rehabilitation of Disaster Victims.”

Judge’s Call to Youth

In his address, Judge Ramanik Sharma urged the younger generation to stay away from drugs and build a bright future, thereby guiding society in a positive direction. He emphasized that addiction not only destroys individual lives but also weakens the entire social fabric.

He remarked that every citizen who contributes to a drug-free society and environmental protection is a true patriot. Highlighting the imbalance in the environment as a cause of recent unexpected disasters, he stressed the need for personal responsibility in safeguarding nature and society. Sharma warned that the growing prevalence of substance abuse is eroding moral values and appealed to youth never to indulge in drugs or associate with those who do.

Honoring Participants

During the program, participants of the camp were honored by the chief guest. Chief Judicial Magistrate Nikhil Agrawal was also present at the event. Judicial Magistrate and Chairperson of the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, Dalhousie, Divya Sharma, felicitated the chief guest with a shawl and cap.

Expert Sessions

  • Advocate Nitin Mahajan spoke on the rights of arrested persons.
  • R.L. Thakur explained provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
  • Aditya Mahajan provided detailed insights into the Negotiable Instruments Act (N.I. Act).

Officials from the police and fire departments, along with students from Satya Sai Public School Banikhet, Guru Nanak Dev Public School Dalhousie, and DAV College Banikhet, shared valuable information on the camp’s core themes.

Wide Participation

The camp witnessed the presence of Deputy Superintendent of Police Mayank Sharma, Tehsildar Dalhousie Ramesh Chauhan, officers from various departments, representatives of social organizations, local residents, and a large number of students from different educational institutions.
