SHIMLA: With winter fast approaching, several parts of Himachal Pradesh are witnessing a steady drop in temperatures. On Wednesday (October 29, 2025), more than 10 hill towns, including Shimla, Solan, Manali and Palampur, recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C while the higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti slipped into sub-zero conditions.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, Keylong recorded the lowest minimum temperature at -0.2°C, followed by Kukumseri at 0.2°C and Tabo at 0.8°C. Tourist towns such as Manali and Kufri also reported chilly mornings at 5.4°C and 7.1°C, respectively.
Shimla registered a minimum of 9.4°C, Solan 10.0°C, Bhuntar 9.1°C and Palampur 9.5°C. Other towns, including Narkanda (6.0°C) and Seobagh (7.3°C), also remained cold through the night.
Dense fog in Mandi, sunshine in other regions
While lower areas of Mandi continued to witness dense fog, the weather remained mostly clear and sunny in Shimla, Kullu, Chamba and surrounding districts. In Sundernagar, moderate fog was reported, while visibility improved later in the day.
Meteorological officials said dry conditions are expected to continue across most parts of the state until November 4, providing favourable weather for tourists visiting the hills.
Tourists flock to snow points in Lahaul Valley
With clear skies and dipping temperatures, tourists have started thronging snow points in the Lahaul Valley. Visitors can now enjoy views of snow-covered peaks near the Atal Tunnel and the North Portal of Rohtang Pass, officials added.
The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Una at 31°C, the only location to cross the 30-degree mark. Most other regions reported maximum temperatures two to three degrees lower than earlier this week, indicating a gradual onset of winter.
The IMD has predicted clear and dry weather conditions till November 4. However, foggy mornings may persist in some pockets of Mandi and adjoining low-lying areas. The current spell of pleasant weather is ideal for travellers planning trips to Himachal’s hill destinations in the coming days.
