MANDI:
BJP national president and Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has become an example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to fight obesity.
Nadda, who belongs to Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh, revealed during a session at a national news channel that he took PM Modi’s campaign seriously and has successfully reduced 18 kg.
The Prime Minister recently launched a nationwide campaign against obesity, nominating 10 eminent personalities to lead the initiative. The campaign emphasises reducing oil consumption in food by at least 10 per cent and spreading awareness about lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and heart ailments.
Speaking at the summit, Nadda said obesity is now a global challenge and requires conscious lifestyle changes. Sharing his own journey, he explained the simple rules he followed: skipping dinner, avoiding the dining table after office and drinking only black coffee or water whenever he felt hungry.
“The difference becomes noticeable in just 10 days,” Nadda said, adding that these small changes not only help in weight loss but also improve overall health.
He further highlighted the importance of mental health, pointing out the progress made through the Tele-MANAS digital counselling initiative. This programme currently connects people with 23 monitoring institutions and five coordinating centres, providing easy access to mental health consultations.
With his personal transformation, JP Nadda has drawn public attention to the seriousness of obesity and underscored the Prime Minister’s message of adopting a healthier lifestyle for a stronger nation.
