Dalhousie: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Himachal Pradesh has finalised preparations for the upcoming ‘Seva Pakhwada’, a fortnight-long campaign of public service activities to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17.
State BJP spokesperson and Dalhousie MLA DS Thakur announced on Wednesday (September 17, 2025) that the Chamba district BJP will kick off the campaign with a blood donation camp in Banikhet.
Speaking to reporters, Thakur said, “Under the visionary and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India is not only progressing rapidly on the path of inclusive development but has also established a unique identity on the global stage.”
He highlighted the special significance of September 17, which coincides with both Prime Minister Modi’s birthday and the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma. On this occasion, the Dalhousie BJP unit will launch a series of social service events under Seva Pakhwada, continuing from September 17 to October 2.
Key events planned:
• September 17: Launch of the campaign with a blood donation camp in Banikhet.
• September 17-25: Multiple blood donation drives, preparation of donor lists, cleanliness campaigns and various community service activities.
• September 25: On the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and proponent of Antyodaya (upliftment of the last person), service activities such as plantation drives, medical camps, and cleanliness campaigns will be held at the polling booth level.
• October 2: To commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, a campaign to promote ‘Vocal for Local’ and Swadeshi products will be launched.
• September 25 to October 2: As part of the Swadeshi promotion, the party will encourage the public to support and purchase products made by local artisans, including weavers, potters, and carpenters.
DS Thakur emphasised that these initiatives are aimed at fostering a spirit of service, self-reliance and community participation, aligning with the core ideals promoted by Prime Minister Modi and the BJP.
