Bharmour— After being blocked for 13 days due to landslides triggered by heavy rainfall during the sacred Manimahesh Yatra, the Chamba–Bharmour National Highway (NH-154A) has finally reopened for small vehicles. The disruption, which began on the night of August 25, had left thousands of pilgrims stranded and hundreds of vehicles stuck across the region.
According to Executive Engineer Meet Kumar Sharma, the highway was restored around 2 PM on Monday, following round-the-clock efforts by NH authorities and workers. The route is now open for light vehicles, while restoration for buses and heavy transport is expected shortly.
The reopening has brought immense relief to pilgrims and local orchardists, many of whom had suffered economic losses due to vehicle damage and prolonged parking costs. With the road now accessible, stranded vehicles have begun exiting Bharmour, and pilgrims are actively seeking updates from locals to plan their onward journeys.
