Mandi: Five persons were *killed while 20 others were injured when a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus they were travelling in met with an accident in the Sarkaghat subdivision of Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday (July 24, 2025) morning.
According to information, the accident occurred as the bus veered off the road and plunged into roadside fields near Maseran in the Tarangla area of Sarkaghat. Among the five dead, three were women.
Around 20 passengers sustained injuries of varying severity and have been rushed to the Sarkaghat Civil Hospital for treatment. The bus was reportedly full of passengers when its driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into the fields below.
Upon receiving information, a police team from Sarkaghat rushed to the accident site to coordinate rescue operations. Emergency medical services, including ambulances, responded promptly while local residents also joined efforts to help pull victims from the wreckage.
The atmosphere at the scene was described as chaotic and heart-wrenching, with cries for help echoing through the valley. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. The authorities have not yet confirmed whether the accident was due to mechanical failure, human error or poor road conditions.
