As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026, a district-level public cleanliness drive was organized today at the famous tourist destination Khajjiar. The event was held in the esteemed presence of Deputy Commissioner Chamba, Mukesh Repswal, with Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mehra also attending.
The campaign saw active participation from the district administration, various departments, Panchayati Raj institutions, students, volunteers, and local residents. A large-scale cleanliness and waste collection drive was carried out across Khajjiar’s tourist site and surrounding forest areas. Participants collected scattered plastic and other waste materials, transporting them to designated disposal points while spreading the message of cleanliness and environmental protection.
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal emphasized the importance of public participation and collective responsibility in maintaining clean and beautiful tourist destinations. He urged residents, tourists, and students to ensure proper waste disposal and contribute to preserving Khajjiar’s natural beauty and environment. Addressing students of Government Senior Secondary School Khajjiar, he encouraged them to keep their surroundings clean and spread the message of hygiene within their families and communities.
Awareness slogans such as “Swachhata Mein Sahbhagita, Swachh Bharat–Viksit Bharat” and “Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath, Ek Din” were used to inspire citizens toward cleanliness and environmental conservation.
The drive witnessed enthusiastic involvement from students, local self-help groups, Gram Panchayat Khajjiar residents, volunteers of My Bharat, ICDS Anganwadi workers, and the Poshan Abhiyan team. The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to continue organizing such activities across the region, with special focus on tourist spots, public places, and environmentally sensitive areas.
The Khajjiar cleanliness drive highlighted the spirit of community participation and collective effort, reinforcing the message of turning cleanliness into a people’s movement.
Among those present were Dr. Anita Sharma (District Ayush Officer), Mahesh Thakur (Block Development Officer, Chamba), Dheeraj Kumar (Forest Range Officer), Vinod Mehta (Project Economist), Sandeep Sharma (Principal, GSSS Khajjiar), Pritam Singh (Senior Fisheries Officer), Rakesh Bhatia (District Program Manager, NRLM), Gram Panchayat Pradhan Chitra Rekha, along with representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions and officials from various departments.
