SHIMLA: A delegation from the Idea of Bharat Foundation met Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan in Shimla on Monday to present a report on the organisation’s recent anti-drug campaign and discuss future plans for broader outreach.

Led by Foundation president Rahul Sharma, the delegation briefed the Governor about an intensive awareness drive conducted across rural areas of the state, including the Nurpur region, during May and June.

The campaign, under the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India), focused on mobilising youth, parents, and village panchayats to take collective action against substance abuse.

Sharma submitted a detailed report and memorandum to the Governor, outlining the campaign’s key strategies, outreach activities, and community engagement outcomes.

Governor Shukla appreciated the initiative and termed it a commendable step towards social reform. He offered suggestions to strengthen the campaign and assured possible support to scale up the movement across the state.

“The fight against drug abuse requires coordinated efforts from civil society, institutions, and government bodies. Initiatives like this deserve encouragement,” the Governor said.

The Foundation has been actively working on various social issues, including public awareness and community-led interventions. It plans to continue its efforts to build a drug-free Himachal Pradesh.
Other members of the delegation included Captain Daler Singh Pathania, Prem Sharma, and Advocate Janak Raj.
