Shimla: Himachal Pradesh is expected to witness rain and snowfall for the next five days (March 9-13, 2025) as a fresh western disturbance is set to get active over the state.
However, as of Saturday (March 8, 2025), the weather remains clear in the state capital, Shimla, and other regions.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, light rain and snowfall are likely in isolated areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and the higher reaches of Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts on March 9.
The intensity is expected to increase on March 10 and 11, bringing light to moderate rain and snowfall to several parts of the state.
A yellow alert has been issued for March 10, warning of heavy rain and snowfall in Chamba, Kangra and Lahaul-Spiti districts. Kullu and Mandi districts are likely to experience strong winds and thunderstorms.
From March 12 to 14, light to moderate precipitation is forecasted across multiple regions.
Temperature fluctuations are also anticipated. Over the next two to three days, minimum temperatures may rise by 2-3°C, while maximum temperatures could increase by 3-5°C in the next 24 hours.
However, from March 12 onward, maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3°C over the following three to four days.
Current temperature readings from various locations across Himachal Pradesh are as follows: Shimla (7.4°C), Sundernagar (7.0°C), Bhuntar (5.5°C), Kalpa (-0.4°C), Dharamshala (5.1°C), Una (5.9°C), Nahan (11.5°C), Keylong (-6.9°C), Solan (7.4°C), Manali (2.1°C), Kangra (8.8°C), Mandi (8.0°C), Bilaspur (7.1°C), Chamba (7.5°C), Dalhousie (7.9°C) and Bharmour (4.7°C).
