A fire broke out late Saturday night at Rumali village under Lafali panchayat under the Aani subdivision of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh.
The blaze erupted around 12.45 am, engulfing an eight-room, two-storey wooden house. Fortunately, the family members sleeping inside the house managed to escape unhurt after noticing the flames.
The incident caused panic across the village, with residents making desperate efforts to douse the fire. However, the wooden structure fuelled the flames. Villagers promptly alerted the Aani police and fire department, officials from where rushed to the site.
Despite their efforts, the old dry timber in the house caused the fire to intensify, leaving the entire structure reduced to ashes.

3 brothers, their families resided in it

The house was home to three brothers and their families, all of whom lost their belongings in the fire.
The incident rendered the families homeless in the chilling winter. In addition to property loss, the fire claimed two sheep and a cow. A nearby house also sustained damage due to the fire.

Cause of fire not known yet

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Preliminary estimates suggest losses amounting to several lakhs.
Aani Tehsildar Bhim Singh Negi said, “A team from the Revenue Department has been dispatched to assess the damage. Immediate relief has been provided to the affected families and further action will follow after the assessment.”
