In middle of Wayanad bypoll campaign, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to visit Shimla

Shimla: All India Congress general secretary and party candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is set to take a break from her campaign to celebrate Diwali at her family home in Chharabra, near Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla.
Priyanka will travel from Delhi to Chandigarh by plane on Tuesday, from where she will continue her journey to Shimla by road. She plans to spend Diwali in Chharabra with her family. Her husband Robert Vadra and their children, along with other members of the Gandhi family, are also expected to join her in Shimla for the festival.

This visit is reported to be personal, though it places Shimla once again in the spotlight as a hub of Congress political activity.
Since building her hill-style home in Chharabra, Priyanka has been a regular visitor, often retreating here for relaxation. Just last month, amidst the Assembly election campaign in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, she visited Chharabra, followed shortly by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
During the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections in 2022 and various by-elections this year, Priyanka used her Chharabra residence as a base, managing campaign activities and rallies from there. While no official meetings with local Congress leaders are planned for this visit, her presence in Shimla is still notable, reinforcing Chharabra as a symbolic Congress power center during the Diwali festival.
