McLeodganj: In a swift rescue operation, a Russian tourist stranded on the ridge of the Galu waterfall was safely rescued by the McLeodganj police in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala earlier on Tuesday (January 28, 2025).
The incident was reported at 9 am when the McLeodganj police station received information that Mukhametshin Artur, a Russian national holding passport number 1004V2E7C722 and travelling on a tourist visa valid from June 29, 2022, to June 28, 2027, had climbed up the ridge near the waterfall and was unable to descend.
The message was immediately relayed to the control room and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in Dharamshala for deploying a rescue team. However, due to delays in the arrival of the DDMA rescue team, the McLeodganj police acted swiftly.
A police team was dispatched to the location and it navigated the challenging terrain to reach the stranded tourist. After a coordinated effort, the tourist was rescued safely.
