The annual Chirag Memorial Football Tournament began with great enthusiasm in Gram Panchayat Matour, Gaggal (Kangra). Organized every year by Vipin Kumar in memory of his late son Chirag, the event has become a symbol of community spirit and youth engagement.
The tournament was inaugurated by Sanjeev Kumar (Kaka), Deputy Pradhan of Matour Panchayat, who cut the ribbon and interacted with the players. In his address, he praised Vipin Kumar’s initiative, calling it an inspiring way to keep his son’s memory alive through sports. He emphasized that such events help keep youth away from drugs while instilling discipline and sportsmanship.
Organizers announced that the closing ceremony will be graced by Kangra MLA Pawan Kajal, adding further significance to the tournament. The opening event saw the presence of local dignitaries, sports enthusiasts, and a large number of villagers, all cheering for the players and supporting the cause.
